About Bryan Mavrow
I came to understand the power and potential of agile through an unique path. I was working on the senior leadership team of a large credit union, staring at a challenging 5 year plan ahead of us, when we were introduced to the potential of becoming an agile enterprise to support our ambitious goals. I had the good fortune to study what an agile enterprise is at two global-leading agile practices: Spark Telecom in New Zealand, and Rabobank in Holland. I was shown the plans they made, the promises and the pitfalls, and ultimately the proof that agile was a better way to work. So my route into the agile practice started from a tenured and senior business acumen, that then progressed into years of focus in the nuts and bolts of agile ways (I'm a certified SCRUM product owner)--I have the ability to look at senior business strategies and translate them into agile work practice.
Now, after launching and growing multiple agile plans, I am more convinced than ever that agile is a better way to work. With its constant attention to the users'/customers' needs, a commitment to iterative, lower risk, improvement, and better engagement of teams across an organization, it has obvious benefits that appear even early in the agile journey.
Without a doubt though, I believe the democratization of work is so empowering to staff. Working autonomously towards clear goals without unnecessary hierarchal oversight, understanding what is expected of you, and having close support of co-workers, is hugely energizing. Early in my agile journey I asked a squad member at Spark Telecom how it was going for them. Their response: "I think it's ruined my career." My eyebrows raised, and they chuckled; "only because I could never work in a non agile company again!"
Let's talk about how I might help your organization.
